Another Year With Dance Company

You might know the DCO (Skyline’s Dance Company) Stunnas from their concerts or halftimes at football games. Skyline Dance Company is a group of extremely passionate dancers who work tirelessly for all their performances. Ellie Moeller, DCO president, explains how much she and the other dancers work in class and outside of class. “ Six to nine hours a week,” was Moeller’s answer to the question of how much training and work they do a week.  Not only do they spend lots of time doing that but they also spend lots of time together. “We try to do a bonding activity once a month and then a lot of the girls on the team are good friends. We work really well together since we all get along well,” says Moeller. Working together and being good friends seem to be very important to them.

The Dance Company has lots of variety when they dance, they do lots of different types of dance but they mostly focus on hip-hop, contemporary, and jazz. All of these dances classes wouldn’t even be possible without an amazing dance teacher to teach them. “Megan is a modern dancer, she teaches us leadership skills and gives us a lot of real-world opportunities,” said Moeller about her dance teacher Megan Brown. Brown inspires and helps the dancers to work hard and to reach their full potential. Before a dance performance, the DCO Stunnas like to get ready together, warm up and then do a little cheer before they go onstage, and that helps them get ready for their performance.

You can see these amazing dancers at all types of events like halftimes, banquets, fundraisers, and assemblies. They have some super cool hip hop routines that they will be doing at halftime for the football games including their next halftime performance on October 6. Their Winter concert is coming up in December which will have a lot of dances that they have been working on since this summer. The Skyline Dance Company dancers work really hard and their performances show that, so make sure to check out their concerts and shows that are coming up.
