Here at Skyline there are many clubs to participate in, and you should join one. It is a new year here with new clubs, people, and a shiny new building; it’s the perfect time to find a club you enjoy and join it. Eagle Fest was a great time to come and learn about the clubs here, and hopefully you found some interest in them. There were plenty of tables with clubs hoping to get some new members.
Clubs benefit Eagles in many ways. They help students connect with one another and can give a sense of relief from school. Diba Zadeh, Hope Club President, said, “Clubs can be an escape from the school atmosphere, even though most clubs are held at school.” Clubs often meet after school or during lunch, since Eagles are gathered with friends and doing something students can enjoy. You have time to unwind from school stress.
If you or students you know are struggling to find friends or connect with them, clubs are the way to do it. The best way to meet people at school is to get involved in sports, clubs, activities, and more. Members get surrounded with people of similar interests and you’re doing something you enjoy with them. If Skyline’s sports teams are disinteresting, there are many sports clubs as well, such as rugby, boxing, hockey, triathlon, and Mountain Biking. Keira Jameson, Triathlon President, said, “Sports help you stay fit and have the happy extra benefit of making new friends.”
Clubs run year-round, so members can join and leave clubs all year until you find one you truly enjoy. If you have an idea for a club, stop by the main office and get a form to make your own club. Clubs are a force that brings Eagles together and drives them to innovate, compete, build a community, and have fun. Being socially active is really important for students’ mental health. “They can help with your mental health,” said Zadeh.
They are not only for students to join and have fun, but also to serve the students. For example, the Hope Club’s objective to support students struggling with emotional, social, and mental hardships. There are a total of forty plus clubs, so what are you doing; get involved and challenge yourselves, Eags!
