Every Wednesday morning, everyone in school looks forward to the morning announcement videos. Not just because they give important information, but also because of Assistant Principal Ben Anderson’s amazing and creative acting videos. His random skits make the announcements way more entertaining and interesting than just listening to the same information every Wednesday. Anderson’s skits turn every announcement into something more fun.
Every Wednesday during the second period, teachers show the morning announcements. The announcements usually talk about the next football theme and club meeting dates. Anderson has starred in two skits with some very interesting costumes in the September 4th and 18th announcements. His first skit was about the school’s new building and how it was remodeled over the summer. He also had an old-looking wizard costume on. Anderson’s second skit was about how the phone policy is very important and prevents phone distractions from happening in class. In that, he had a cellphone costume and a wig on.
Many students love his costumes. “I think his costumes and acting are great.” a Freshman said. The cell phone and old wizard costumes just make the skits more realistic and entertaining. It shows how committed Anderson is to the roles and to the skit itself. Three out of the four students interviewed said their favorite costume was the old wizard from the announcement on September 18th, 2024. Anderson’s fantastic humor and costumes are hard to miss in his skits.
“I enjoy watching the announcements. It’s much easier to pay attention than when they’re over the loudspeakers,” said a Freshman.
The announcements are very important, especially in high school. In middle school, they usually say the announcements over the intercom and never make videos. Since there are more clubs and events in high school, it would be difficult to say all of them over an intercom. Video announcements are the best for this situation. Students get to watch important announcements from Skyline’s SBOs, along with watching amazing skits from Anderson.
“I think they’re better with him because he’s funny, and it doesn’t feel so bland. It’s also what I look forward to in the announcement because it makes the announcements more interesting.” said Avendi Jackson, a Sophomore.
