Eagle Eats is the cafeteria-adjacent, cafe-styled storefront at Skyline High School, providing students with affordable snacks and drinks. They open before school and during lunch. Their menu consists of baked goods, drinks, and snacks. Student favorites include cinnamon rolls, brownies, pretzels, sodas, coffee, granola bars, and chips.
The prices are very low; almost everything purchasable is under $2. Baked goods cost $1.50, and the drinks are around $2. These prices are lower than those at most other places. Eagle Eats does not generate revenue. It is purely for the students and their convenience.
A Senior from Skyline, Brianna Norton, even said she might go broke from buying food there. She also mentioned her favorite thing to get at Eagle Eats: “I get iced coffee with a ton of creamer and sugar. I also like to get the cinnamon rolls,” she said.
Eagle Eats is good for what it is. There is often a line out the back during lunch, and it is common to see students with their treats during lunch. All of the foods fall under the guidelines established by Granite School District and the USDA. This means that everything you can buy there contains less sugar and is a healthier choice for teenagers compared to other available options, yet they still taste great!
One favorite part of Eagle Eats is the drink selection. Personally, I have been saved by Eagle Eats many times. When I’m super sleepy from the day, I often get the Sparkling ICE Caffeine, and it keeps me awake for the rest of the school day. The best part is that Eagle Eats is right on campus and close to where everyone is. It is very convenient to be able to stay at school during lunch instead of going out to get that caffeine needed for the rest of the day.
The aesthetic of Eagle Eats is similar to the rest of the building. It fits into the hallway it’s located in and looks nice whether it is open or closed! It is a friendly and welcoming environment. Every time I have bought something from Eagle Eats, it has been a quick, easy, and pleasant experience.
The workers are very friendly and kind. Bethany Stewart, another Senior, says, “I love the workers! They are so nice actually; I love them!” With all the people interviewed, this is a common theme. These workers fit into the RISE environment at Skyline very well. I would recommend anybody at Skyline to try it out and see how they like it.
Stewart said, “The prices are really cheap and nice, although I’m still going to go broke.”
