During the Region 6 tournament at Brighton High School on April 23–24, the Skyline High School Men’s Varsity Tennis team delivered a determined performance, ultimately securing second place in the Region 6 tournament.
The team played hard and placed only fifteen points below the Highland High School team.
Holden Magnum, a Sophomore on the junior varsity team, said, “I watched the regionals and the team did well, but in the end they placed second.”
The Skyline team competed in a total of fifteen matches over two days, winning ten matches. On the first day of the tournament, the team played ten matches and secured seven victories. Their first day consisted of matches against Brighton, Highland, East, West, Alta, and Olympus High Schools.
On day two of the tournament, they won three out of five matches. They only lost to Brighton and Highland on the second day.
Tennis matches were contested over three sets, with each set comprising six games. Each game was played to a minimum of four points, with a player required to secure a two-point advantage to win.
Ultimately, matches were decided by the majority of the three sets. Magnum said, “The team played well this year, but it wasn’t enough. Hopefully next year we will win.”
