After only losing one set in the state tournament, Skyline’s Women’s Volleyball brought home the state title. The two day tournament took place at the University of Utah Valley. Overall they had four games, thirteen grueling sets, and passion to bring home the win.
For Grace Fredrick, the love for the game runs deep. “I love volleyball, because it is such a fast-paced game, and my teammates are some of my best friends. They make the game so fun, and volleyball is such a good outlet for me,” Fredrick shared. It’s clear that, for Fredrick, the sport is more than just competition—it’s a way to connect with others and push herself to be better, both on and off the court.
Maya Grant, another key player for the Lady Eags, highlighted the hard work that led to their success. “We worked so hard and saw the growth,” she said. From hours of practice to personal and team development, the Lady Eags constantly pushed themselves to improve, and that effort was shown in their performance at state.
Grace Fredrick echoed the importance of teamwork, saying, “We worked so hard to win and to do our best, and we just played as a team and all played for each other. It was the most fun I’ve had.” The Lady Eags’ chemistry was undeniable—each player supported the others, and their shared commitment to the team’s success made their victory all the more rewarding.
Throughout the tournament, the Lady Eags grew even closer as a team. Fredrick explained, “We got so close between breaks and playing together, and I think since we all wanted this so bad, it felt even more amazing when we won.” Their unity was a driving force behind their success—each set, each match, brought them closer, and the collective desire to win made their eventual triumph feel all the more rewarding.
Bailey Rosander credited the team’s coaches for their critical role in the Lady Eags’ success. “Our coaches were so awesome and prepared us so well,” she said. Their guidance and strategic planning allowed the team to approach each match with confidence, knowing they were ready to take on any challenge that came their way.
For Rosander, the experience of competing at state was a highlight of her volleyball journey. “State was one of the best times with my teammates,” she said. The thrill of competition, combined with the deep connections formed with her fellow players, made this an experience she will always treasure. Maya summed up the team’s bond: “I would have never wanted to win with a different group of girls; they are my best friends.”
