Spring break at Skyline High School has finished, with each student spending their time differently. With many end of school year tests coming up, spring break indicates the ending of a school’s year and the passing of time.
This year’s spring break lasted from April 6 to 12, making it the last week-long break before the school year ends. Some students take this long break to catch up with school work, spending time with families, or even taking a vacation.
Miranda Park, a Freshman at Skyline High School, took a vacation during the break. “I went to California with my dad for three days, and I went to Laguna Beach, Korean restaurants, UCLA campus, and went shopping,” she says.
On the other hand, Freshman Shreya Bhurtel spent her time at home with family members while enjoying outdoor activities. She says, “I mostly stayed at my house, but I also hung out with my cousins to go outside, touch some grass, and go hiking.”
After the break is over, there is just over a month left of the school year. Advancement Placement (AP) tests and final tests take place all over the school during May. In advance, some students took advantage of the break to study for these tests.
One of these students is Freshman Sadikshya Kuikel. She says, “I take an AP class, and I completed my notes that were due.”
Sophomore Eila Yorgason says, “I plan to get my homework and study for the AP tests that are coming up. […] There’s basically an extra time to study, so this break was really nice, and I think I took a really good advantage out of it.”
Kuikel talks about how she felt about how fast the time has passed. “It feels surreal that my first year of high school went by so quickly, spring break has already passed, and the school year is going to end in almost a month,” she says. “I honestly feel sad, but l hope to just power through, because summer break is coming up and use that as my motivation.”
As the school year slows down with the end of spring break, students recap their school year.
Bhurtel says, “Freshman year was really fun, and I got to do many new opportunities and connect with people at Skyline.” She says, “Now that the last long break of the school year has ended, I feel that the time passed by really fast.”
