After years of debate, pressure, and desperation, current President of the United States Donald Trump signed a Congress bill on November 19 to release a series of documents that are all related to the child sex offender Jeffery Epstein.
For context, the documents known as the Epstein Files contain names and emails of the clients that worked with Epstein to exploit children. These files may contain names of famous celebrities and politicians as well as legal information like travel records and court documents which took a long time to be released—to the point where President Trump said that they didn’t exist, despite the bill being passed by the House of Representatives and approved by the Senate. In the words of one student: “A lot of powerful people were on it like they were hesitant to release them.” They said, “It’s not a good reason to release them.” The release might affect America, because these people on the list will have their actions exposed to the public, and these people are either famous celebrities or politicians. “A lot of politicians are going to be taken out of office or not going to be reelected,” said the student. “A lot of celebrities are going to lose all their fame and their money.”
Despite the claims of that student, another student thinks differently. They said, “From what I learned, Democrat politicians have voted against the release.” They added, “While mainly Republicans and Congress have voted for it; Trump is even for the release of the Epstein files.” As it’s shown by the opinion, Democrats were against the release of the files while Republicans including President Trump were and are for the release of them. However, the student is also for the release of the files, because justice must be served. “There is some bad people out there that should be imprisoned,” they claim. “If the Epstein files are released, then there are probably evidence against people who committed those awful crimes, and we can put them in jail.”
Despite the release of the files, no concerns were uttered among students due to how vile the crimes are, as many children were scarred and traumatized by these actions, and the people behind the scenes had to be brought to justice and face the consequences of these acts. The student remarked, “I feel like it could be good to release the Epstein files.”
