Girls’ Lacrosse Flies Into The Season
Skyline girls’ lacrosse is starting off the season strong with their first game against Riverton High School, and a Chick-Fil-A fundraiser to raise money for the program. Although the game at Riverton was an 11-6 loss for the Skyline team, most members of the team felt satisfied with how the game played out, stating that they performed better than they expected. Sophomore Kamryn Berg said, “We held them off for the first half, which was good. I’m excited for this season, it was a good start.”
Along with their first game, the team’s yearly Chick-Fil-A fundraiser helped to herald in the start of the season. The fundraiser was organized by head coach Nicole Jermak, and took place on Monday, March 21st. Leilani Feifa, a Freshman goalie on the team, explained, “It’s pretty expensive for us to sign up and pay for everything, so it just helps us lower the prices so we have more girls have access to pay.” The final amount of money raised has yet to be announced.
The team is looking forward to the continuing season, especially as they continue to bond and work together. Senior captain Lucy Randall says about the team dynamic, “We have a few new girls, so that’s kind of difficult to get them in, and comfortable with the team, but it’s going well. We have good chemistry.” Feifa, who is one of the new members of the team this year, adds, “it’s a good environment. I feel like the girls are so open and so nice, and you don’t feel like you’re new. Everybody feels like a family once we get into the program.” With all the improvements the team has already made, the girls are confident that they are going to do well this season. Their next game is tomorrow, March 22nd.
