The new Skyline mythology class is an eye catcher when looking at the schedule and what classes to take next year. It is something that not many people knew about, and many were shocked about the fact that this is a real class this year. Many students were curious about taking this class and decided to give it a try for this year’s second semester.
Cindi Parks, who is a Senior English teacher for honors and core, is teaching this new mythology class. This class, grading wise, is somewhat structured like her English class because of the similarities in deadlines and class learning structure. The mythology class mainly focuses around the Greek ideology and ideas that are fantasized and worked into mythology, which is taught in a year’s curriculum at Skyline.
Students that took the mythology class have said that it is “somewhat hard but interesting.” People who have not taken the class still have questions around it and their own thoughts. One student, Nicholas Simos, said, “I thought it looked cool when looking at options for schedules for senior year.” When talking about who takes the class, it is Seniors who are curious about the class, because the second term is for taking different classes. Mythology is very different, interesting, and a fun class to take as students end their high school era.
Luke Derum also stated that he thinks that the new class is “something that hopefully sticks around for a while, because it sounds like Skyline is trying to get new interesting classes and finally listen to student input on class creation and selection.” That brings another question: will this class stay at Skyline for many years? This year has seemed promising, with many Seniors taking this class considering it’s only the first year and having good things to say about this class with a very determined teacher in Parks. With many new interests going on at Skyline, many people hope and think that this class will “be here to stay” and create a new set of interesting classes at the school in future years.
