Many popular and trending artists all over the world released music this spring, getting ready to get their songs streamed all throughout summer. Summer is one of the best times for artists who release music. During the warm season, people go on vacation and trips while enjoying music along the way, so artists drop new songs for this seasonal chance to get the most people to listen to their songs.
One of the artists who released music last month was Sombr, who has previously been nominated at the Grammy Awards. He released a new single called “Potential” during mid April. Aditri Tiwari, a Freshman, is a fan and listens to Sombr almost anytime. “I listen to Sombr anyplace, anytime, 24/7,” she says.
The hard core fan talks about how she feels about the new single. “Sombr’s new song is so fire; I plan to listen to his new song everyday during the summer. […] He performed the new song at Coachcella, and it was so good. I was drawn by his performance.” Coachella is a music festival annually held in April where trending artists perform their songs.
Another artist who released music this month is Beabadoobee. She released a new single called “All I Did Was Dream Of You,” featuring The Marias. Freshman Natalie Perez says, “I listen to a lot of Beabadoobee and The Marias in general, so I definitely will be too during the summer.” Along with The Marias, students listen to artists from all over the world that have released music this season. Some of the artists include Yel, DxS, and The8, which are all artists from South Korea.
Yel has dropped music since 2022 and creates pop, R&B, and several other types of music. A listener of Yel, Freshman Shreya Bhurtel, talks about how much she loves Yel’s new songs. “She released a single called “tbh.” It’s pretty fire. […] I plan to listen to Yel probably every other second.” she says.
Artists DxS and The8 are both from the popular boy group Seventeen. Both released music during April. Sadikshya Kuikel, a fan of Seventeen since 2023, describes how she felt about the releasing of the new songs from both artists. “I was so happy when DxS and The8’s music came out. […] I was also glad that they released it in April, because April is just such a calming month,” she says.
As the temperature becomes warmer, new song releases give out a spring and summer vibes which fans are here for. This season is the perfect time to listen to new artists and hits while vibing with the warm weather.
Many fans are excited and hope that the artist’s music is showcased and listened to by more people in the future. Kuikel says, “I hope they become popular with their music, because it’s actually so good, and go stream them!”
