This year has been full of pop culture events that would make for great halloween costumes: characters from TV like Wednesday, Wicked, K-Pop Demon Hunters, The Minecraft Movie, Fantastic Four, etc. Big pop culture moments like Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s engagement could be costumes, or the Labubu dolls. One costume that is taking over the internet is the Lorax costume, which became popular on TikTok in 2023. Derek Hardink had predicted that the inflatable costumes will be the most popular. He said, “A costume that always dominates is the inflatable alien costume that looks like you’re being held by an alien, or the inflatable t-rex one.”
Anonymous said the Italian Brainrot costumes will be very popular this year, “like Tung Tung Tung Sahur or Tralalero Tralala.” Italian Brainrot is a genre of memes mixing AI generated photos and “Italian” sounding names.

Teague Time has gone viral on social media as a meme where people will wear a Jeff Teague basketball jersey backwards and underwear only. It started on the basketball video game 2K but made it in person when people started posting themselves doing it on TikTok. Derek Hardink said he will be “Teague Timing” for halloween this year. He explained, “Jeff Teague, I’ma wear a Jeff Teague jersey backwards. Teague Time, that’s what it’s called.”
Anonymous said that he will dress up as a character from the mobile video game Clash Royale that has gained lots of popularity this year. He explained, “I am gonna dress as the E-golem from Clash Royale. It’s basically just a big purple blob, so it will be pretty easy to DIY.”Every year, there are always costumes that people don’t like. They see them too much and get annoyed. What will the most overrated costumes be this year? Derek Hardink said, “As popular as it is, I hate seeing the giant inflatable costumes. They are so big and pretty unfunny at this point.” Remy Kinghorn added, “I don’t want to see the Lorax costume. All the girls wear it, and it gets so old.”
Every year, the costume that dominates Halloween is typically the costume people don’t want or like, but it always ends up being iconic. This year, it will be hard to ignore all the couples going as Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce: “My mom and dad are going as Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce!” said Anonymous.
